If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I’m originally from Virginia. We try and visit whenever we can and this past weekend, it was a girls trip. Just Meriwether and I on a flying, traveling adventure from Nashville to Roanoke. Carson stayed behind to get some work done at the office and our house. Even though it’s definitely more complicated traveling with her alone, it was fun making memories…just the two of us.
We visited family and had fun slowing down and doing the simple things. Going on walks after dinner, doing some shopping, swinging at the park and eating good food together. We celebrated my 29th birthday and Father’s Day. We grilled steaks and had my favorite cake for dessert (notice my uneaten salad beside the cake haha).
I was treated to a birthday mani/pedi by my sister and then we went to Deb’s Lemonade afterwards. Literally nothing better than Deb’s. If you ever travel to Roanoke, you must go! We split a hot dog and got a Big One (if you know, you know).
During our visit, it was Meriwether’s first time really playing at the park because she just recently got the hang of walking and wearing her shoes. She loved the swing so much, we had to go back three times during our visit. Whenever she would see another child playing she would yell out at them. She laughed hysterically on the swings…making the rest of us laugh (see blurry photo below). We had an absolute blast!
Overall, Meriwether is a pretty good traveler. However when we were in the Atlanta airport on our way back, she wanted to get down and run around everywhere during boarding. When I wouldn’t let her she had a complete MELTDOWN. I was so embarrassed because I could tell everyone was staring at us like…
Great. A baby’s on the flight.
That was really our only issue. She mainly slept while we were in the air which was a nice break for me. Here and there she would want to stand up and wave to everyone behind us. And this nice Delta pilot who sat beside us had the pleasure of Meriwether constantly grabbing the sparkly patches on his uniform before finally falling asleep haha
He was really nice about it. I tried but couldn’t get her to stop!!!
We arrived back to Nashville completely exhausted but full of fun memories. We missed Carson a lot while we were gone, and it was nice to all be back together!
