A Special Day With The Ducks

Sézane dress here, leather slides here (similar here and here), bag

A couple of weeks ago, we celebrated my birthday with some family time by the water. Meriwether loves going to the lake and feeding the ducks, so we took our stale sandwich bread and surprised them with a treat! They let her get really close and she kept letting out nervous squeals as she ran away (then went back for more). Her laugh is my favorite thing. She was a bit disappointed when we had to go (see black and white photo below). It's so cliché, but it really is true — as I get older, the gift I want most is the only thing money can't buy...quality time with my family. We put our feet in the water, enjoyed the breeze and made legacy memories together. I'm not sure how I got so lucky with these two.

With age, I've been figuring out the wardrobe pieces I reach for most often. I'm making a conscious effort to upgrade those pieces with quality options and clear my wardrobe of excess. I love this lightweight floral dress by Sézane. Summer is in full swing here in Nashville, so I've replaced several dresses in my closet with styles that feature this breezy fabric (here and here). I particularly love this one because it transitions effortlessly from Spring to Summer to Fall. Moreover, the details are just so unique and beautiful. I always aim to add pieces that can be worn during two to three seasons of the year. I love when I can combine practicality, versatility and beauty in a wardrobe choice. Such a fulfilling feeling.

Slowing down lately has been a huge gift I've given to myself, and I've been trying to encourage those around me to do the same. I hope your summer is off to a great start and you find some moments to slow down Xx
