A Holiday Weekend On The Water

Hello! How are we after the long weekend? I dropped Meriwether off at her first dance class (she's very excited to be a ballerina) and I'm spending the afternoon getting the house pieced back together before we head out for another exciting trip on Thursday! One of my lifelong friends is getting married in the mountains of Virginia and I can't wait to celebrate her big day.

I wanted to share some memories from our sunny family lake weekend, as well as a few fun wardrobe pieces I took with me. It was a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings, but perfectly warm throughout the day — does it get better!? There's nothing quite like wearing an oversized button down or sweater by the water, and I always get excited to be cozied up in the sunshine. Carson brought the best quilted sweatshirt along and I desperately wanted to steal it for myself! (p.s. Castaway Nantucket has great quality classics for men)

We spent our long weekend offline (aren't those the best!?) — we ate cheeseburgers and wavy chips, watched some epic fireworks (seriously the most insane show ever), swam with the kids, listened to our favorite songs, went for a morning cruise, and just enjoyed each other's company. Oh! And Meriwether caught her first fish (!!)

One other fun thing...my mother-in-law bought these giant floats for the grandkids to play with (a flamingo and a dinosaur) and I think the adults enjoyed them more than anyone (see Carson enjoying the dino in the Instagram Reel I posted earlier) We undoubtedly brought home lots of legacy memories from this trip. A big big thanks to my in-laws for hosting all of us!

what I packed —

I recently bought this swimsuit and I'm in love with the tie shoulders. Perfectly feminine and playful. (similar here, here and here)

My tried and true high waisted shorts via Mango. They're having a big sale today too! (similar here under $20 - my friend Moriah has these and I loved them when I saw her wearing them. This is my reminder to order haha)

My favorite birthday gift last month from Carson, my bracelet watch.

A classic, oversized button up by Favorite Daughter. I specifically love the silhouette and fit of this one — it has a tapered, feminine cuff paired with an oversized bodice which is hard to come by. It's a good one to invest in for multiple seasons of wear throughout the year. I'm already envisioning pairing it with my dark, straight denim, a navy cotton sweater and my favorite tennis this Fall.

Classic striped towels.

Favorite sunnies via KREWE. I started wearing their shades at the beginning of this year and I'm totally hooked!

A linen set that's perfect together (and separate) all summer long. I'm in love with the fit of the shorts and the top is perfect with high-waisted denim too! We love classics that can be worn several different ways —

The perfect cherry red plaid top I can't get enough of. Size down if you order!

My staple denim in the bone color-way. Mine are the ankle version.

The slides I bought in Paris two years ago — I wear them almost every single day of summer. Found these that look exactly like them the other day and under $70!

A good pair of chic black flip flops are always a must. Practical too. Been loving Havaianas for decades — I have both the thin strap and the thicker style, love them equally!

I hope you were able to enjoy some slow time over the weekend too! With all that's been happening in our lives the past month or so, we're looking forward to one last trip during July, then some much needed downtime at home. I think with all thats happened over the last year, it's made me realize that home is my absolute favorite place. Talk soon Xx
