Our Little Beach Getaway to 30A

For the Labor Day weekend, Carson surprised me with a little beach getaway.

He loves planning trips more than anyone I’ve ever known. He gets really into researching the area and planning out our days.

For weeks leading up to the trip he’d say…

“Do you wanna know where we’re going!?”

Of course I’d excitedly respond,

“Yes! Where!? Tell me!!!”

Then he’d say,

“Never mind. I’m not telling you.”

…and then laugh. He thinks he’s HILARIOUS.

Sometimes he’d whisper to Meriwether about the trip so I’d feel left out.

hahaha

He loves to aggravate me…which is why I’m constantly (trying) to embarrass him on Instagram stories. It’s called payback.

He rented an Airstream camper located near our favorite place to vacation, Rosemary Beach. I think we’ve been together the last 5 years or so. The Airstream we rented was named Lucille and we LOVED her. The first night I was a little unsettled as I’ve never camped/stayed in a camper/been on a campsite before…but I quickly got comfortable. We recommend staying at the Grayton Beach State Park campsite. The sites are intimate and private with trees surrounding…plus it’s within walking distance to a public beach access. The camper was decorated so beautifully and it was a nice laid back weekend for our little family of three.

Of course we had to eat some good food…so we went to our usual, Shades Bar & Grill in Rosemary. It’s the perfect place if you feel like coming off the beach and grabbing a quick bite in your beach clothes. We also went to George’s in Alys Beach for the first time and it was AMAZING. The desserts were phenomenal too. We also tried another new place called The Bay and it was another great meal – highly recommended. We love Edward’s and La Crema in Rosemary as well, but we always go there and we wanted to expand our horizons a bit.

We enjoyed spending time together at the beach, eating delicious food and relaxing. We spent the entire trip back home to Nashville brainstorming about our life and what our new goals are as a family. This trip was a nice way to kick off a much needed season of restful weekends, cleaning out our home, getting rid of the excess, and finding ways to spend less and save more.
