A Party In The Park

A Party In The Park

Where does the time go? I can't believe five years have come and gone since my first baby was born. Carson and I have undoubtedly cherished our years with Meriwether. We've made so many memories with her and she's changed us for the better. She's definitely becoming the girliest of girls who loves being outside, getting creative with coloring and paint, and of course, music. She definitely enjoys her music.

Over the last year she's proved to be a watchful big sister who's always looking out for Madeline to ensure she's safe. Although she hasn't quite mastered the art of sharing. As we say in our house, it's hard to share! She calls Madeline "my baby" and tells her friends things like, "my baby is turning one" and "my baby has blue eyes too, but she has brown hair". The other day when I was giving them a bath she said to me, "I really really wanted a cute baby...and here she is!" haha

the party details

This year, she wanted to celebrate with a few girlfriends from ballet and school, so that's what we did. She decided on a face painting party, so I booked a local artist and we threw a small celebration at a Nashville park. I stumbled upon a pavilion tucked into a clearing beside the river...Meriwether said it looked like a fairy house in the woods!

The girls ran around, made up games, played with bubbles and chalk and ate lunch together. The nature scavenger hunt was an unexpected hit! I made simple sack lunches in brown paper bags with PBJ, potato chips and apples. I folded the tops of the bags, punched two holes and tied bows with ribbon to dress them up a bit. We also took a cooler with juice and drinks. It was such a beautiful day filled with loved ones, laughter and of course, cake!
