A Picnic With The Girls
Meriwether and I have enjoyed dozens of picnics together, but this was Madeline's first! We usually make a day of it on our weekly "girl's day" outings as we like to call them...typically on Friday to celebrate the weekend's arrival. Can't believe I have two girls to enjoy ― I feel like the luckiest. This has been the most wonderful (and most exhausting) time of our lives!
For picnics, we typically head down to the lake to feed the ducks and geese, but this time we stayed close to the house. Just down the street there's a walking trail complete with a park and creek. Across the way is a field with horses that Meriwether loves to visit. It's the perfect place to spend an afternoon! We took our new favorite quilt and sprawled out on the grass ― Garnet Hill has the most incredible quilt/bedding selection. I usually go for the king so there's plenty of room for the entire family to spread out. I couldn't decide between ours and the Agnes in Oatmeal, so I might go for that one next! There's nothing better than spending quality time together, laying on a freshly laundered quilt with the grass beneath you.
And although I usually love to take lots of classic picnic fare, I kept it simple this time with takeaway pizza and some paper towels (because, children haha). A reminder that you don't need all the fuss or the perfect meal to enjoy a picnic outing with loved ones! During this season of life, it's been really nice to get out and enjoy simple pleasures like this with my girls.
