The Memo — October Newsletter

I’m thrilled to share this monthly newsletter series with you, in hopes to bring a little extra joy to your days. I went a little overboard on this one, but hey — its the first one and I’m excited!

Here you’ll discover favorite finds of the month, a seasonal playlist and recipe to enjoy, a noteworthy quote, and anything else I feel is worthwhile! I love the little things that bring light to my days, and I’m most excited to share them with you. I hope you enjoy, and as always — thank you for your friendship and readership Xx

Favorite Fall Finds

Wardrobe

I bought these two knits (here & here) to enjoy during the cool seasons. I can’t wait for them to arrive! I’ve been a huge fan of the Everlane Alpaca Collection for years — I wear the cardigan and oversized crew over my go-to basic tees. You can’t go wrong!

Another sweater I’ve been loving to style — here. I ordered a size up for an oversized fit, plus I find French clothing to run a tad small. I’ve worn it with my favorite denim (I have three washes) and over summer dresses. The details and quality are impeccable.

Style Tip: When layering a sweater over a dress, use a petite belt to create shape at the waist. I find oversized sweaters usually work best, but play around with it. Simply tug the sweater over the belt to hide it and voilà!

I found this bag while doing my most recent style post featuring Mango — it’s perfect for Fall. I love how practical and roomy it is (especially the fact that it has a zip closure). The color is stunning! I love pairing this shade with black, navy and everything in between.

The weather this time of year is my favorite. I love throwing on my favorite slides with denim and a sweater. These have been my go-to pair for the last several years. I also came across this option which has amazing reviews and looks just like the popular Hermès slides.

I haven’t taken off this ring since I got it early last month (literally wear it in the shower, to sleep, etc.) It sits perfectly on my finger with my petite diamond eternity band I got when Meriwether was born. The metal hasn’t turned or irritated my sensitive skin, which is always a win with costume jewelry pieces!

Beauty

I just replenished my favorite mascara — just the best!

I recently started using this skin perfector and I’m in love. You can wear it alone or under your foundation. It has SPF 25 for a little extra sun protection too!

Home

Not a ton to share in the way of home finds, but I’m gearing up to completely redecorate Meriwether’s room. I’ve been on the hunt for her space, and I’ve been browsing Etsy specifically for artwork and littles. More to come here!

Quote & Reflection

“Our daily productivity and efficiency has gone through the roof, yet our peace has not increased. Start leaving some room. Slow down.”

I wrote this the other morning during my daily quiet time. During the week, I wake up before my family so I can start the day in a peaceful space.

I was thinking — with greater efficiency should come greater satisfaction, right?

Yet in today’s society, the pressure to do more, consume more, achieve more and earn more is ever present. It’s never enough. We are tired, anxious and overwhelmed. This hustle culture has become the norm, but it doesn’t have to be. And not to mention, we weren’t made to live this way!

The solution is rather simple. Take inventory of your life. Stop looking around. What’s truly necessary for you to be happy and what’s not? Unapologetically eliminate. Stress less and rest more. Prioritize time to sit down and eat real food. Make it a non-negotiable. Reflect on your blessings every day. I guarantee you’ll feel more peace and contentment. It won’t cost you a thing.

Spotify Playlist

I recently updated my Soothing Playlist by adding a handful of new songs for the Fall season. I love that so many of you are listening along, and I’ve really enjoyed getting messages about where you listen — I hope you enjoy the new additions!

Recipe

Nothing is more therapeutic for me than setting aside a morning or afternoon to bake something delicious and listening to music. I just picked up all the ingredients for these cinnamon rolls and I can’t wait to make them! I’ve heard incredible things and they’re easy to make —

My mom’s homemade sugar cookie recipe has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl. She always baked them for the holidays, but I’m perfectly happy to find an excuse to slow down and make seasonal renditions. This month, Meriwether and I are recreating these family favorites for Halloween! I ordered these cookie cutters and some fun festive sprinkles to decorate. Then she talked me into another Halloween kitty cookie cutter when we were out running errands yesterday (no one is surprised).
