Recent Fall Finds

Wardrobe

As it’s gotten colder, I’ve been reaching for my cozy sweatshirt set more than usual. I love the flattering high-waisted joggers and cropped style of the top. I’m so happy the brand brought this set back for the Fall. I pair them with my cozy sherpa slippers at home, but can throw on a coat and tennis shoes to run out for an errand or two. I love that I can feel put together and comfortable. I bought a size medium, which is my usual size in the white melange color. A note: this set is cotton, so they do shrink a bit if you dry them!

I recently started browsing The Outnet a few months ago and think its such a noteworthy share! You can find new, designer pieces offered at great discounts. I have my eye on a few things (like this sweater & this gorgeous dress) and plan to thoughtfully pull the trigger this month. Their items seem to sell out quickly, though — I think it’s because they get a small quantity of each. When updating my closet, I slowly try to replace staple items with higher quality ones. This site is a wonderful resource for that!

I just purchased these slides and these tennis shoes. I’ve worn my brown woven slides constantly since I bought them in the Spring, so I know I’ll get good wear out of these (similar here). And we all know tennis shoes are a great choice. I love how these can be seamlessly styled with jeans, coats and sweaters. I’ll be sure to share how I’m enjoying them throughout the season!

H&M has been my go-to for cozy, reasonably priced oversized sweaters and jackets this season. I saw this brown plaid style yesterday and I’m in love. I just bought two shirt jackets and this silhouette runs quite oversized, so if you want it more fitted, my advice would be to size down. They sell out quickly, so beware! (I’ve learned the hard way)

One of my favorite small activewear brands out of LA, Coed Active, just launched a new collection. They graciously sent me a set in their cocoa color and its perfect for Fall. The square neck Bonita crop top has been a favorite of mine for years and I’m so happy they’re making it in more colors!

I recently placed an order with another favorite brand of mine, Mango. Their Fall collections have been spot on and they just released gift guides on the site! On my last order, I bought a coat and two tops (here here). If you’re needing things for Fall and Winter, their site is worth a look right now! My packages take a while to arrive, but they’re always worth the wait.

Beauty

Big news I’m excited to share in the beauty department — I’ve been forever changed!

I purchased a handful of products from Caudalie a few weeks ago, and I cannot express how utterly impressed I am. Countless friends had told me how much they loved this natural, French skin care line — and I’m so happy I took their advice. I’ve been blown away by the effectiveness of their products while maintaining clean formulas.

I bought the Glycolic Peel MaskDeep Cleansing Exfoliator (they also offer a gentle buffing cream), and Glycolic Night Cream. Two to three times a week, I use the exfoliator followed by the peel mask, and it feels like I’ve just been to get a facial (!!) My skin is left feeling ultra soft and looking bright. Carson was touching my face the other night and was equally impressed (haha) On the other nights, I use the night cream for a gentle peel and wake up to fresh, luminous skin in the morning.

On my recent order, they sent along small samples of their Purifying Gel CleanserNatural Salicylic Acid Pore Minimizing Serum and Brightening Moisturizer — all of which I will be buying on my next time around!

These hair clips by Alexandre de Paris seem overpriced on the surface (at least that was my first thought), but I bought two of them last month and have been frankly impressed by the quality and hold. They would be a good “treat yourself” item, especially around the upcoming holidays!

Home

My friend Megan told me about this small glassblower over the summer and I’ve been collecting his pieces ever since. First was his small optic bud vase, which is perfect for a handful of flowers from my garden or the grocery. It’s beautiful sitting on my kitchen window sill, glistening in the morning sunshine (as are all of his pieces). He makes the same vase in a larger version and I recently received it in the mail. I just used it to arrange sunflowers and it’s the perfect size for medium arrangements.

Today we started construction on our upstairs walk-in attic, which is being converted to livable space. We’re adding a large dormer and hope to use the new square footage as an extra guest room, office or play area for Meriwether. I’m really excited to see how it comes together! I’m using this photo via Pinterest to pull some inspiration. Eventually, we’d like to add a bed in the dormer for additional sleeping quarters.

Noteworthy Quote

A friend of mine, Nora, shares her morning reading and it’s something I always look forward to. This morning, she shared some notes about joy. Here’s what the author wrote:

“Are you willing to be here suffering endlessly and needlessly through distressing situations — worrying, fussing, fretting about things you can do nothing about? I’m not. And we don’t have to be. We’re here to feel joy and absorb all of life's beauty we can. If pain comes, let it pass quickly through. Then move on to joy. It’s a conscious choice.”

Spotify Fall Playlist

I put together a Fall playlist that you can listen to during this season. I hope you enjoy the song choices — and as always, I love hearing from you so let me know what you think! I’ve already been listening and loving it, so I think you will too.

Recipe

I’m not a huge pie person, but that does not apply to this Salted Caramel Apple Pie. My sister brings it every year, and it’s a dessert my entire family looks forward to on Thanksgiving. We serve it with vanilla ice cream and drizzle extra caramel on top!

It’s one of those desserts you plan your portions around — we all make sure to save some room in our stomachs (or just unbutton our pants). My sister adjusts the recipe a bit (she’s a great baker and cook), but has assured me the original will not disappoint — I’ll have to get her variations and share it to the blog ASAP!
