Helpful Tips and Tricks When Dealing with Hair Loss

Over the past several months whenever I would shower or comb my hair, I would have large clumps falling out at once...it was both alarming and worrisome. When I'd dry my hair, strands would cover the bathroom floor. Now my hair is slowing growing back, and I've got some patches growing every which way along the front hairline as well as some bald spots. I needed help in finding some temporary and long-term solutions to this problem, so I reached out to my friends on Instagram and they helped me tremendously!

Here's everything we discussed -- the many successful tips and tricks they've used to help texture, growth, disguising bald spots, etc. I don't know what I would do without them!

  1. Continue to take pre-natal vitamins throughout the first six months (or start taking them)
  2. Take collagen peptides with your coffee or morning beverage (If you're in Nashville, visit Lemon Laine)
  3. Try taking a hair specific vitamin or supplement twice daily to help hair grow back faster.
  4. Use a dry volume spray for added thickness or try a new part
  5. Buy some spray wax to help tame the new growth. I love all things Oribe, so I've linked it here for you!
  6. Apply castor oil over night before showering in the AM. Castor oil promotes hair growth and strengthens hair. You can also apply it to your brows for a thicker browline!
  7. Use clear mascara to tame pieces back into hair
  8. If you have bare spots in the front, try using eye shadow or a tinted hair color spray to fill in those thin areas when you're wearing your hair in a ponytail. If you don't have the time to do this, you can always get some good wear out of your hats! (I personally love this solution and have been doing this almost every day)
  9. Use Nioxin Shampoo + Conditioner
  10. Try using a pomade to tame back new hair growth. Carson uses this brand for light hold and matte shine for a more natural look and I've been using his!
  11. Consult your hair stylist. They may be able to help you with different ways of parting your hair or a new cut to help mitigate the appearance of new hair growth.

At the end of the day, this is a small problem in the grand scheme of things. However I hope this list of tips + tricks can help find a solution to your hair loss and regrowth season!
