Style Guide Series: Beauty & Skincare

Beauty & Skincare Refresh

In recent months I've revitalized my skincare/beauty regimen and I'm eager to share! I'm really not a stickler when it comes to using solely clean products, but its been nice to find natural options that are both beautiful and effective. Some I introduced for my specific season of pregnancy, but all are worthwhile options to rotate into your routine anytime!

Skincare Winners

Brightening Glycolic Night Cream — when I found out I was expecting, I stopped using my tried and true retinol and starting using this pregnancy safe glycolic option. My esthetician actually told me its good to give your skin a rest from retinol anyway, so it was the perfect transition.

I've been over the moon with the results! It acts as a gentle peel during the night, revealing visibly fresh and luminous skin in the morning. Night after night, the look of brown spots is visibly reduced, skin texture smoothed and my complexion looks more even. It has a fresh, subtle phyto-aromatic fragrance, combining green notes of bergamot, sweet orange, mandarin and lemon wood.

Glycolic Peel Mask — I use this peel about two times per week, being careful not to overindulge with glycolic acid. Every time I use it, I feel like I have brand new skin. In one go, it sweeps away dead skin cells, visibly refines skin texture and evens my complexion for a radiance boost in just 10 minutes.

Body Oil — This quick-dry botanical oil by Hatch intensely hydrates + reduces the appearance of stretch marks and scars. Though it's intended for the belly, I use it on my hands, arms and chest for all over moisture. I love the light scent! It's been a treat through the last several months, and I'll continue to use it during postpartum. I actually have the Spa Day Kit, and its the ideal ending to a long day.

If you're looking for an option not meant for pregnancy, I've always enjoyed this body oil thats rich in vitamins, omegas, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Their entire line is a dream!

Bath Pillow — speaking of spa treatments at home, Carson gave me this bath pillow (under $25) a few months ago and I've been shamelessly telling everyone about it ever since. It's made a huge difference for me during my evening bath time and takes relaxation to another level. I love the minimal design and it washes well!

Crème de la Mer Moisturizer — I use this ultra-rich moisturizer specifically around my eyes every night. A tiny bit goes a long way here, so the investment lasts and lasts. This formula reveals a firmer feel and a more lifted, rejuvenated look. I warm it between my fingertips to melt the liquid crystals and this releases what La Mer calls "Miracle Broth". Next I'll gently press the product around my eyes, taking care not to massage.

Ritual Vitamins — I realize I've shared these countless times, but taking prenatal vitamins (even when you aren't expecting) can do wonders for your skin, hair and overall health. Their flavor infused multivitamins have been a refreshing part of my morning over the last several months. Because they have a delayed release capsule, they don't bother my stomach, which was an issue with other prenatal options I've tried. If you're in the market, you can use ‘10AMELIA’ at checkout for 10% off your first three months.

Clean Beauty

Brow 1980 Volumizing Pomade — I bought this brow pomade from MERIT a few months ago and have been a huge fan. Now I'm thinking I need to give their mascara a go (Allure Beauty winner), especially since the eye set is on sale right now! Speaking of effective, clean mascara options - I've loved the Limitless Lash by ILIA Beauty for the past year or so...its the brush bristles for me!

Perfecting Complexion Stick — It's not a foundation or concealer, but it’ll replace both in your makeup bag. I've loved the approach of making quick, small edits only where I need instead of applying a full face of makeup unnecessarily. It's been surprising how a few areas of coverage make all the difference!

I apply this product using the brush, but before I bought it, this small beauty blender worked wonderfully. I still prefer using this powder corrector for covering areas that need more attention like dark circles (I actually use it on blemishes too), but this stick provides quick coverage that melts into your skin.

Another great recommendation on the subject - this BB cream by Korean beauty brand Erborian. I love their CC Cream too! It blurs the appearance of pores and imperfections, evens skin tone and enhances skin's natural radiance while providing light coverage.

Setting Powder — A friend of mine recently asked me how my makeup wears so well throughout the day. I sent along the setting powder I use because it's made all the difference! This one diffuses light to make skin look radiant. It has a natural matte finish that blurs the appearance of pores, fine lines and imperfections. I use a highlight brush to apply and dab it on my face. The smaller brush size helps get into those smaller areas like under the eyes!

After I've applied it all over, I'll go in with my final step which is some bronzer for the cheeks. I've used this product for over ten years and don't plan on changing anytime soon! Same with my favorite blush.

Tinted Lip Oil — Somewhere between an oil and a light stain, this lip tint was made for whenever and wherever. I've been all about the moisturizing oils these days, and I love both the sheer color and hydration of this one. Repeated use helps to maintain natural moisture levels in lips over time.
