Madeline Turns One
Last weekend we celebrated our sweet Madeline ― our tiniest girl. One full year has come and gone and we've already made so many wonderful memories together! The thankfulness I feel for her life and love is profound. From the day she was born, she stole all of our hearts with her little dimple and mischievous spirit. She's tender and cheeky. Funny and bold. She has a big sister who loves her more sweetly than I could have ever hoped. We celebrated by singing and eating and laughing and playing. When the time came for her first bite of cake, she enjoyed without a moment of hesitation ― another telltale sign she's her mother's daughter.
I enjoyed putting together a quaint yet special gathering for our family. I began with the sweetest invitations from Dogwood Hill. I have to take a moment to compliment their team! They seamlessly edited the invite verbiage and sent over a hi-res proof before printing. I love how they turned out and set one aside for Madeline's memory chest.
I'll include all the sources I pulled together for her celebration below ―
invitations
floral cupcakes and pearl cake by Lauren Costley
octagonal serving platter
scalloped cake stand
pretty pastel table candles, plan to use the other colors for Meriwether's birthday!
plates and napkins
tassel bunting, love that I can reuse this garland for endless celebrations to come
wrapping paper ― this is an old pattern, but she always has the best in wrapping!
flower arrangement by Dorsey Meier
Madeline's outfit, an older style from Noah + Val
gifted her this sweet heirloom set, precious hand-crocheted details
Madeline's bow here, a nice proportion for her age, available in other great staple colors
birthday cake knife
about the tradition―
we gifted each of our girls a special silver cake knife at their first birthday celebration. On one side, their full name and birthdate is engraved. Throughout the years we'll use their special knives to cut all their birthday cakes. And when the time comes for them to get married, we'll engrave their new name and wedding date on the other side. It's a nice sentimental piece they can use at their reception cake cutting!
